NIGERIA: 2015: Opposition Form Coalition Against PDP In Enugu
The ambition of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to retain power in 2015 general election in Enugu State has come under threat following a grand coalition formed by all the opposition parties in the state.
The coalition which was formed after a meeting of the state chapter of the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP) at its secretariat in Enugu, resolved to field only one candidate against the PDP in the 2015 governorship election in the state.
Speaking with newsmen after the meeting, the State Secretary of the CNPP, John Nwobodo, described those saying that there was no opposition in Enugu State as people living in illusion, adding that they would be disappointed in the 2015 general elections, which he insisted, would be in favour of the opposition parties.
Nwobodo who was supported by the state chairman of theCNPP, Adony Igwe, and other members, insisted that the PDP’s hold on power in Enugu State would definitely become history in 2015, stating that the opposition parties were unwavering in their resolve to sack the ruling party from power

“The core of this press conference is to officially issue the CNPP’s declaration on 2015. Accordingly, we hereby issue the following declarations.
“That the opposition parties hereby form a coalition to be coordinated by an Inter-party Consultative Committee. The coalition will be on the basis of negotiation whereby concessions are made to each of the designated parties to contest conceded positions to the exclusion of other parties in the coalition.
